Teenage Mutant Turtlenecks

Here comes the sun . . .

Even though this #stylecrazed gal is more than ready for some springtime fashion, I am happy to report that I still find myself pleasurably rejoicing in my current winter wardrobe WHICH simply consists of today = a turtleneck with an A-line skirt, tights, and kitten heels. This ensemble has been on repeat ever since I bought the green heels to go with the color-blocked turtleneck that I bought to go with a leopard skirt I got last year at J.Crew . . . haha! Isn’t it crazy how some outfits come to fruition in our closets?! Sometimes you just find an article of clothing you love, honestly don’t have the slightest clue where or with what you will be wearing it with, but purchase it anyway because you feel like you can’t live without ;) you know that skirt or maybe that top you got on sale or those shoes that were just too good not to buy!! Anyway, like I said, it’s been on repeat ever since and you might even remember seeing it on my Instagram or Instastories a few weeks ago at my girlfriend, Vanessa Balli‘s bridal shower. It’s a common pairing of items with each item being carefully curated for color; giving it that personal style of funk I crave.

I’ve had a thing for this look ever since my teenage years. A turtleneck for easy sophistication. An A-line skirt for some needed curvature. Tights for added class. And kitten heels for painless come and fro in-between meetings or errands or just lunch with my girls. [Okay, so yeah, in high school, I wouldn’t have been caught dead in a kitten heel and instead would have been attempting to try to prove some unspoken right of passage by wearing those insanely tall hooker-heels that supposedly didn’t hurt my feet. You ladies know what I am talking about. The rest is completely true.] Yes, I was a weird adolescent. A mutant maybe. I think that is abundantly clear. This nerdy girl was all worried about looking professional while she attempted to be in far-too many high school groups/sports/activities. Lol. Oh, young me you make older me feel tired!!

“If you only have work clothes – the black trouser and ribbed turtleneck you got four years ago at the Gap – you’re not participating in your own style personality.” — Stacy London

So if you’re like me and are yearning for some warmer weather here, maybe just take an hour to rummage through that closet of yours to see if there is an item you need to create a last-minute winter look for ;) trust me! The activity will give yourself some sanity while San Diego makes it’s seemingly slow transition to spring! Plus, who doesn’t love a little creativity?? I took a classy, basic concept and put my own colorful touch on it. The same can be true for you. Maybe not as bright. Maybe not with multiple patterns. But I have the faith you can create an outfit that is strictly you and let’s your inner radiance shine! Have a HaPpY Thirsty Thursday, y’all! Get outside and enjoy that sunshine!!
