And just like that, my favorite week of the year is almost over . . . that was me last Saturday night sitting at the second runway show of Fashion Week San Diego 2016 with only three designers left for the runway :( THANK GOODNESS Fashion Week San Diego knows how to keep a lady coming back for more. Every year the day directly following the runway shows, there is a trunk show, where you can view and shop all the labels straight from the runway. It’s sort of a whirl-a-wind, since you were up so late the night before and have to get ready again for one more event the following morning, but it is oh-so worth it!
Plus, there’s always brunch. Yep, for Fashion Week San Diego’s 2016 Trunk Show, they returned once again to the Pink Lady [a.k.a. La Valencia Hotel] in La Jolla :) so the husband and I got brunch reservation beforehand and fueled up for some shopping!
This year for the Trunk Show I was all about comfort! I ran my fingers through my night-before-hair, whipped it into a top knot [will these bangs of mine grow out already!] and went with sneakers verses pumps. You know to give those ole feet a much-needed break.
I also decided to wear my new favorite dress = this very upholstery artist-appropriate Moschino number I purchased for the new Homebird Upholstery website photos. I thought is was a good choice since a tape measure is also a fashion designer’s best friend!
I then paired it with my funky, polka dot Kate Spade #foureyes, this necklace I purchased two years ago because I loved it but didn’t really know when I would wear it [no time like the present] and my “Mouse” purse from Fashion Week San Diego 2015. I absolutely LOVE reusing items from my carefully-curated closet. Don’t you?!
If you haven’t been to a Fashion Week San Diego Trunk Show, you definitely missed out! It’s not only a good excuse to go shopping, but also helps support the designers and their dreams. Sort of like a condensed version of Shop Small Saturday — only with better clothes! ;) Anyway, I HIGHLY recommend it for next year! If you want to see more of “behind the scenes”-esque photos from the Trunk Show, click here to see 656 Photography‘s awesome documentation of the event. The husband and I even managed to sneak in a quick pic with San Diego’s very own Anna Wintour, Allison Andrew, at the Trunk Show. She is the brains behind this whole “Fashion Week San Diego” concept, and if you’re ever considering a career in fashion here in San Deigo, she’s the gal you want to know! Check back here tomorrow to see who my favorite designers were from the runway and then it’s back to your regularly-scheduled program. Haha! Ciao!
