Being Bright In Business

Ever since becoming a full-time upholstery artist four-ish years ago, my wardrobe has drastically changed . . . from a closet filled to the brim with office-appropriate attire to a now array of ANYTHING GOES! [goodness, how I do love me some Cole Porter] but there is one item of professional clothing I still do love to pullout anytime I have a client meeting and that is a sleek women’s pant suit.

Now, I do realize this is not your run-of-the-mill pant suit ;) no siree, Bob! In fact, the color alone is probably the main reason I actually don’t mind wearing one in the first place. Lol. I mean look at that pink!

But I also wear it, however, because in this day and age, I believe it’s still important to present yourself in a certain light, especially when meeting with prospective clients that directly affect my livelihood.

It honestly surprises me how some women dress for a business meeting these days. Yes, I know that we live in Southern California [the land of the yoga pant] but there’s a time and a place for that sort of wardrobe and that’s when you’re laying on your actual yoga mat! Seriously.

Ultimately, dress for the job you want = smile proudly throughout your presentation and look so sharp that the only question at hand is whether or not to hire you. Your outfit should work for you and not against you.

Well, that’s all for now! I’ve got to get off to a client meeting. It’s a VERY busy week in this Lucky Little Mustardseed‘s world = client meetings, upholstery deadlines, it’s also Fashion Week here in San Diego, AND my office is getting painted. Oy vey! I really do know how to fill up a calendar. Haha! Have a wonderful week, y’all, and don’t forget to check out my Instastories and Snapchat [@jennapilant] for a behind-the-screens look into my life. Okay, gotta run! Later, gators!
