I mean can you honestly take one look at this dress and not be addicted to it?! That’s at least how I felt when I first saw her work. Mara Hoffman is a New York based fashion designer, who got her big break when Sex and the City stylist, Patricia Field, stopped her on the street to complement her outfit. Later, Field picked up Hoffman’s samples and sold them in her shop, causing a loyal client base to form :) her collections have since evolved = first featuring hand-dyed couture pieces, but now concentrate heavily on original silk prints [like the dress I’m wearing today]. Mara Hoffman’s line encompasses EVERYTHING . . . from swimwear to cashmere coats, pulling her inspiration from nature, world travel, and fantasy, and has been gracing the New York Fashion Week runways since 2009.
“Find beauty not only in the thing itself but in the pattern of the shadows, the light and dark which that thing provides.” – Junichiro Tanizaki
I don’t know about you, but I’m sure glad Patricia Fields paid Mara Hoffman that compliment!
