Positive Affirmation Cards

“Hi. My name is Jenna and I’ve been using affirmation cards for nine years now.”

[I know you already knew my name but I bet you didn’t know the latter.]

That’s right. I use affirmation cards on an almost day-to-day basis.

Why?

For one, I’ve dealt with having high anxiety for most of my life. Yep, that feeling of having butterflies in your stomach, EXCEPT mine are constant. I also tend to be a worrier; as in I worry A LOT about many silly things. But when I found Louise Hay’s positive affirmation cards my junior year of college something changed inside of me. I learned how to channel these high-strung emotions through a daily mantra, which was provided by these grace-saving cards.

So, why are you telling me this? Why now?

Mostly, because I’m excited about these new affirmation cards I just found out about. Yes, thanks to wonderful Kickstarter, I discovered that Your Joyologist was trying to raise funds to create her very own deck of said affirmations for her clients, you, and everyone else. How awesome is that? I mean I love my original deck, but since I’m nine years in, I could use some new ones and the ones I have sampled thus far [thanks to Tricia] have left me overly impressed!

Affirmations Cards

Originally, this post was supposed to help the Kickstarter campaign have a strong finish, BUT I am happy to report that the $20,000 goal has been met. SO, instead of donating money to help a small business owner further her business, how about you donate money to help further your life? Why not try and make it better?! I’m being VERY honest here. I had REALLY bad days growing up = in elementary, junior high, high school, and even in college. I cannot imagine how different things would have been if I had found affirmations before I did. Well, that and yoga ;) BUT the point is we all need positive reinforcements in our day – something to strive for, focus on, and ultimately, figure out our own happy.

How do you use them?

Every morning [shortly after I wake up] I pick up the deck of affirmations, shuffle them around, close my eyes, fan them out, and randomly choose one.

Why do you close your eyes?

I let the Universe decide what I need in that moment and truly . . . you will be astonished by how fitting the affirmation will actually be. It’s a bit crazy, but it works.

What do you do after you’ve chosen one?

I read it, reread it, and absorb it while I get ready for the day. AND if I’m having a big flair up with my anxiety and worrywart-ness, I will actually take it with me throughout my day. It’s that easy.

“One is happy as a result of one’s own efforts, once one knows of the necessary ingredients of happiness – simple tastes, a certain degree of courage, self-denial to a point, love of work, and, above all, a clear conscience. Happiness is no vague dream, of that I now feel certain.” – George Sand

If you’re looking for a way to add some more optimism in your life, I highly recommend introducing affirmation cards into your morning routine . . . OR whatever routine. What better way than with this fantastic deck from Your Joyologist?! Pledge [at least] $28 by this Thursday, July 3rd and you will receive your very own, spanking new deck in September. You could be one of the first! How rad is that?! I simply cannot wait.

Please, share your thoughts about this post. Be kind & play nice.

Oh, I just love this kind of post! It’s always good to know the path someone else has chosen to reach happiness (and some tips)! It’s inspiring!

I’ve read Louise Hay’s book, but I didn’t know about the cards. I mean, did you do that or do they sell it there?

Anyway, after reading your post, I decided to do something that I’ve been longing for a long time: I bought the illustrated edition of her book! It’s so beautiful and colorful! It just makes you happy by looking at it!

    :)

Thanks Carol! You can actually order Louise Hay’s affirmation cards from Amazon. I would highly suggest, though, pre-ordering this new deck I also wrote about. Your Joyologist has done a wonderful job designing it.
