I am finally starting to feel like myself again today = last week was crazy [totally worth it] but CRAZY! See, we our first Art After Dark event of 2014 on Friday night and I [like a true artist] procrastinated on all of my décor and didn’t start creating anything until, well, the week OF the event. Yep, so I only have myself to blame for the exhaustion I feel and for the disaster of a house I had to clean this weekend ;) I truly do wish I didn’t work under pressure well and learned how to do this whole “time management” thing a little bit better . . . anyway, back to the event:
All-in-all, it was a really enjoyable Valentine’s Day. My projects were finished in time, the interview on FOX 5 San Diego was satisfactory, AND we had a pretty fantastic turnout. I mean I ALWAYS have fun at Art After Dark. That’s a given. The theme being vintage, however, DID give me an extra boost of #instanthappy. Then you throw the soft opening of the exhibition, Jean Wells: Icons of Desire into the mix, and man, you’ve got yourself one heck of party!

I cannot even begin to give Jean Wells’ talent true writing justice. She is based out of San Diego and is known for her large-scale mosaic sculptures that are simply put >>> dazzling on the eyes. They are all inspired by iconic popular culture and household brand-name products. In my opinion, she is the kind of creative light you should strive for as an artist. Plus, she is a real gem of a human being; so nice, genuine, and bubbly. I honestly don’t know if I’ve ever met a more positive lady. And then there is her work! FABULOUS is the only word for it. You just HAVE to get yourself over to the Oceanside Museum of Art while her exhibition is still there. It runs from now until June 15th. Trust me. You’ll be sorry if you don’t. It’s a true artistic experience!

Okay, so that is definitely enough rambling for a Monday – let’s just hope I’m fully back to my usual shenanigans tomorrow!
