LLM Reads: The Four Agreements

In the spirit of “reading the many books I have purchased,” I have decided to start sharing with you my opinion on any literature I finish.

How does that sound?

I believe it’s a winning combination for all parties involved = you will push ME to read and I will tell YOU what’s worth your time ;)

So here we go!

For my first selection, I completed The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom by Don Miguel Ruiz. This was a personal recommendation from my life coach and WOW! It was EXACTLY what I needed to hear!

Do you remember my “Is Common Courtesy Dead?” post a few weeks back?

Well, it really doesn’t matter if you did or you didn’t ;) but this book has helped me address some of the very issues I’ve been dealing with as of late AND has contributed incredible insight into the way I should be living. For example, The Four Agreements are:

1. Be impeccable with your word.
2. Don’t take anything personally.
3. Don’t make assumptions.
4. Always do your best.

Now, according to this way of life, I break [at least] two to three of these daily. I mean think about it. Do you consistently talk nicely to yourself? Is it easy to shrug off another person’s words and/or actions? Can you keep from worrying? Are you always trying? This book provides simple notions that are hugely blocking our way to an ultimately happy life. It’s truly for anyone – doesn’t matter what religion, sex, or race you are. I promise you it will bring new understanding into the way you live.

“Every human is an artist. The dream of your life is to make beautiful art.” – Miguel Ruiz, The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide To Personal Freedom

Okay, I’ll stop there . . . you’ll just have to read it for yourself!
