The whole idea of my head being towards the ground overwhelmingly frightens me.
See, I had this very traumatic experience as a kid: I was taking swimming lessons and we were headed to the deep end of the pool [which is scary enough for a child] to learn how to dive. I was honestly trying very hard to get up the nerve to go in the water . . . when the teacher decided to push me. [Yea, I was thinking the same thing – what a bitch!] I half belly-flopped, half drank part of the pool, leaving me scared enough that I haven’t went head first for anything since: diving, cartwheels, etc.
Well, until this past weekend.
Yep, Saturday and Sunday, I attended a 2-Day Inversion Workshop at Peace, Love, and Yoga and guess what? I actually went upside down and even MULTIPLE TIMES! [So exhilarating.] I mean sure I still have a looong way to go, but the important part is I did it ;)
“Sure I am of this, that you have only to endure to conquer.” – Winston Churchill
Maybe once I master a couple of these inversion poses, I’ll even get up the nerve to take swim lessons again!
