I believe every human being of the appropriate age should have the right to marry.
I know this statement will cause some upset. I honestly don’t care. I cannot be happy in a world where two adults who are in love cannot legally enter into a union with each other in the eyes of the government. In the past few days, I have been overjoyed by the amount of people I know that openly support the equalization of marriage. I applaud each and every one of you. This is our era’s Civil War. Some people in my life have gravely disappointed me with their feelings about homosexuality. I understand that “being different” scares society and you are all entitled to your opinion, but one day, you are going to wake up and realize you’re on the wrong side. Hate is not the way. The world is changing whether you like it or not. Good will win. You can either continue to discriminate . . . or you can decide to be a respectable human being and admit that none of us have the right to deny the greatest emotion of all.
“There are people who have said that I’m being brave for being openly supportive of gay marriage, gay adoption, basically of gay rights but with all due respect I humbly dissent, I’m not being brave, I’m being a decent human being. And I don’t think I should receive an award for that or for merely stating what I believe to be true, that love is a human experience not a political statement. However, I acknowledge that sadly we live in a world where not everybody feels the same. My family and I will help the good fight continue until that long awaited moment arrives, when our rights are equal and when the political limits on love have been smashed.” – Anne Hathaway
We are promised life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. May we all freely love our “person” – EQUALITY IS A MUST.
